Getting to your expedition
We can arrange how you get to the start of your trek as part of your expedition package. How you arrive will depend on your chosen destination.
The world famous TranzAlpine train travels from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass township. This scenic ride will inspire you before you have even started your hike, as you travel alongside the ice-fed Waimakariri river.
If you have your own hire vehicle you are welcome to drive to the start of your expedition which your guide will provide directions to. This is the most commonly chosen option and provides you with the freedom to carry on with your adventure wherever you like.
Alternatively, your guide can pick you up from Christchurch city and return you to your final destination at the end of the day or weekend. Our Roaming Guides vehicle is a 4WD SUV, with current road safety certificates. With this option, you have the greatest flexibility as you can stop on the way to take photos or buy a souvenir. Your guide is a Passenger endorsed licence holder. This is subject to availability so check with your guide at the time of booking.
Fly in - hike out
If you like to arrive in style, start your expedition in a charter helicopter. Ask about availability for your chosen trip.
